Ginsburg received her B.A. from Cornell University. In 1954 she enrolled at Harvard Law School where she was only one of nine women in a class of more than five hundred. After the birth of their daughter, Martin was diagnosed with testicular cancer. During this period, Ginsburg attended class and took notes for both of them, typed her husband’s papers to his dictation, and cared for their daughter and her sick husband, while making Harvard Law Review. When her husband took a job in New York City she transferred to Columbia Law School and became the first woman to be on both the Harvard and Columbia law reviews. She earned her LL.B. degree at Columbia, tied for first in her class.
